Q. What is this deal you have announced?
A. On 4 July 2006 ntl Incorporated (the holding company of ntl:Telewest) completed its acquisition of Virgin Mobile. On 8 February 2007 this combined company was rebranded Virgin Media.
The completion of this deal creates the first UK company able to offer a ‘quadruple play’ to customers. This new company will be able to offer mobile and fixed line telephony, broadband internet and television, putting it in an unrivalled position in the communications industry.
As a result of this acquisition, Virgin Mobile’s shares have been de-listed from the UK stock market.
Q. Will you still be called Virgin Mobile, and will I still be a Virgin Mobile customer?
A. Yes, absolutely. As part of the deal ntl:Telewest has acquired the license to the Virgin brand, so in early 2007 the ntl:Telewest business will be rebranded as Virgin Media. Virgin Mobile will be one part of this new Virgin-branded company and you will still be a Virgin Mobile customer.
Q. Why is this good for me, as a Virgin Mobile customer?
A. Customers of the new Virgin company will soon be able to buy a complete package of broadband internet , TV, and fixed and mobile telephony.
Q. Does this mean I’ll get more products and services?
