Graeme Oxby (45) – Managing Director
Graeme has worked in the mobile industry since its infancy, and has helped pioneer the bringing together of mobile communications and entertainment. Most recently, Graeme spent six years at 3. He joined as Director of Customer Marketing, and then moved into the role of UK Marketing Director. He was responsible for building the marketing team from scratch, and played a key role as positioning 3 as a mobile entertainment company. Prior to his time at 3, Graeme worked as Vice President of Global Mobile for Cable and Wireless, before joining Orange as Head of Product Marketing and New Product Development. Graeme is married with two daughters.
Rob Shardlow (39) – Sales and Distribution Director
Rob joined Virgin Mobile in 2000 to create and implement the indirect sales channels strategy, to complement the Virgin Mobile core direct distribution. During this time Rob has expanded distribution to over 5000 prepay handset outlets, 1000 contract outlets and over 100,000 airtime top-up points. Rob was appointed Sales Director in September 2006.
Prior to joining Virgin Mobile, Rob worked for One 2 One where he held various sales, channel management and business development roles.
Prior to the mobile market, Rob spent five years working in both consumer products and office equipment for Eastman Kodak. Rob has an MBA from Henley Management College, specialising in channel management.
Paul Williams (39) - Retail Director
Paul joined Virgin Mobile in September 1999 as Head of Channels and in September 2006 he was appointed Director of Retail. Paul is responsible for management of the Virgin Mobile retail estate within Virgin Megastores and for the rollout of its own standalone stores. Prior to joining Virgin Mobile, Paul helped set up Virgin Cola and went on to be Head of Sales for five years. Before the 12 years at Virgin, Paul worked in Sales and Operations for Coca-Cola, Cott Corporation and BUPA. Paul holds an Honours Degree in History, Politics and Economics from Southampton University.
David Foster (44) – Customer Services Director
David joined Virgin Mobile in June 2000 from direct marketing agency, Brann. In his role as Brann's Director of Telemarketing he was responsible for the Sales, Client Service and Call Centre operations. He was responsible for the design and implementation of a range of direct and telemarketing programmes for organisations such as Barclays Bank, the Central Office of Information and several of the privatised utilities, and played an important role in supporting the launches of Orange, and Microsoft's Windows 95. David was initially recruited to Virgin Mobile in June 2000 to manage the relationship with their in-sourced Customer Centre provider, Merchants. Following the successful transfer of the Centre to Virgin Mobile in August 2001 he became Head of Customer Service, delivering the industry leading service recognised 3 years running in both the JD Power and Mobile News annual customer awards.
Bryn Jones (42) – Director of Business Architecture
Bryn joined Virgin Mobile in November 1999 as Head of Technical Strategy and Planning, and in January 2007 he was appointed Director of Business Architecture responsible for all Virgin Mobile’s Business Delivery, Business Analysis, and Business Improvements. During his time at Virgin Mobile Bryn has overseen: the technical architecture required to support the rapid growth to over 4m customers; the introduction of Virgin Mobile’s innovative Value added services; and the collaboration activities with Virgin Media after the acquisition in July 2006. Prior to Virgin Mobile Bryn was a Principal Consultant for KPMG, consulting in Customer Relationship. Previous to this Bryn gained wide knowledge of the telecommunications and call centre industries whilst working for BT Syntegra and telecommunications equipment suppliers. Bryn holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Degree from Exeter University.
Jonathan Kini (28) – Director, Commercial
Jonathan has worked in the mobile phone industry for five years, and has been at Virgin Mobile for the last two of those. He joined as Head of Handset Purchasing and Supply, before becoming Director, Commercial this year. Jonathan holds a mathematics degree from UMIST and was married on April 1st 2006. He has a son, Seb, who is two years old.
Tim Dowling (34) – Director of Customer Proposition
Tim joined Virgin Mobile over 3 years ago as a contractor to help launch the contract proposition. He quickly moved to Head of Contract, and most recently to Director of Customer Position. Tim’s career began at Barclaycard as a Product Manager on the Barclaycard/Cellnet joint venture. His next role was with Whitbread Beer Company (now Ambev) where he endured some thirsty work as Brand manager of Stella Artois. Over the next 5 years, Tim progressed through the company, ending his time there as Marketing Controller -Innovation and Specialty Beers. He then spent 9 months travelling Central and South America, before joining Virgin Mobile. Tim has been married for two years and has a son, George, who was two in January.
