Ear, That's v.Nifty

11/11/1999

Virgin Mobile wants every customer to enjoy the convenience of hands-free conversation, which is why every single one of our phones comes with a free earpiece.

But we know, while some people are quite happy to tie themselves up in knots, others resolutely are not.

So Virgin Mobile today proudly introduces the world's first retractable, no-tangle earpiece. It's so simple, you could be left wondering why no one has thought of it before.

There is a retractable earpiece available for every Virgin Mobile phone. In fact, customers of rival networks might reach the understandable conclusion that they simply must have a retractable earpiece too. And, of course, they are most welcome to buy one from us - because you won't find them anywhere else! (We rather hope they buy a Virgin Mobile phone too!)

Virgin Mobile retractable earpieces work just like those plug leads on vacuum cleaners. Simply press a button and the cable comes winding in, leaving the ear plug nestling neatly in a nifty case, safe from harm.

To unwind the cord, when answering the phone, simply pull on the ear plug and out comes the cord.

The plastic case comes with a spring clip for belt mounting, for easy positioning next to your already belt-mounted phone. (If you haven't got a belt we suggest you get one PDQ!)

And that's not all. Virgin Mobile is also introducing a battery-like retractable earpiece. This just clips on to the rear of Nokia 3210 phones, keeping the rewind mechanism and cable all within one unit - the mobile phone itself.

Richard Branson said: "I can't have been the only person on the planet to have got wound up by knotted earpieces and wished for a simple solution to sort out the tangle? Virgin Mobile's retractable earpieces demonstrate how we intend to lead where other mobile firms have failed the consumer. These simple, low-cost gadgets - half the price of some conventional earpieces - are easy to use, and make hands-free phone calls hassle-free."

The hands-free retractable sets cost £19.99, come with a full one-year warranty and are part of a huge range of accessories available for Virgin Mobile phones.

Virgin Mobile is a joint venture owned 50:50 by Virgin Group and One2One.
