Virgin Mobile is putting its weight behind Yamaha UK and its quest for victory at the Superbike 2000 Championships. Details of the sponsorship will be announced at the Road Racing and Superbike Show (Alexandra Palace - 29th January) and funding will support the team through the British and World Championship.
Yamaha UK was sponsored by the Virgin Group last year and is the most successful team in Superbike history. The new Virgin Mobile deal will be the largest funding to date and hopes to promote the two-man team to the front of the pack from the very first race at Brand's Hatch on March 26th.
Riding state-of-the-art R7 bikes, Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha will be headed by former British Superbike Champion, Steve Hislop, and former British 200cc and 600cc champion, Paul 'Marra' Brown.
Steven Day, Head of PR at Virgin Mobile comments: "The essential mix of the fast moving technology and fun involved in Superbike racing was just perfect for Virgin Mobile. We hope to help the team to the rostrum, not just in the British based competition, but in the World Championships too".
Team Virgin Mobile Yamaha is attending the Road Racing and Superbike Show at Alexandra Palace. The YZF-R7 race machines in their new livery will be on show for the first time at the Yamaha stand.
