Virgin Mobile, the headline sponsor of V2001, today launches its exciting programme of activity for V2001 onto the festival-going public.

Virgin Mobile's main on-site activity centres around the specially-constructed Trailer Park with its groovy-retro range of activities, and an exclusive line up of DJs. There is also an exclusive Virgin Mobile V2001 Hotline, an SMS information service, the opportunity to text a message to the entire festival crowd, and the chance to become a modelling superstar. All in all, it adds up to the ultimate festival experience!

V2001, sponsored by Virgin Mobile, is now back for its sixth successive year on the 18th & 19th August 2001, in the green field sites of Weston Park, Staffordshire, and Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex. V2001 will play host to the cream of musical talent with live performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Texas, Coldplay and Kylie Minogue, among many others.

Virgin Mobile has teamed up with Siemens as the official handset supplier to the V2001 music festival. Sue Rowe, marketing manager at Siemens Mobile Devices, said, "Our latest mobile, the SL45, is the perfect mobile phone for music fans, with its built-in MP3 player. We are delighted festival-goers will be able to see the SL45 put through its paces at V2001."

The SL45 will be thumping out tunes at the Virgin Mobile Trailer Park, with live downloads of MP3 music and DJs using the phone to entertain the crowds with its near CD-quality music.
So what are the details?

Trailer Park

  • Phone-charging facilities in the trailers

  • While your phone is charging, you can either chill out with the local trailer park residents, get your nails painted by the girls in the Girls' Trailer, and have the odd round of cards with the lads or play on the new Game Boy Advance consoles in the Boys' Trailer.

  • Mess around with the latest in Siemens phone technology in the Surveillance Trailer and download your favourite tunes from the web with the brand new Siemens SL45 MP3 phone. Visit the internet café and send an email home saying how much fun you're having!

  • Or, just check out the music from the DJ trailer, brought to you by Finger Lickin' Records and join the Virgin Mobile party!

Virgin Mobile Boxstars

  • All festival-goers can come to the Trailer Park to strike a pose and have their picture taken to become the face on the boxes of Siemens Virgin Mobile phones later this year.

  • The winning faces will win a VIP trip to London to have a make-over and photo shoot.

  • Some of the more eye-catching poses will be shown on the website (www.virgin.com/mobile/v2001) after the festival - so make sure you check it out!

Text the Fest
Festival-goers can send a text message to the festival crowd which will appear on the huge 'Jumbotron' screens, either side of the main stage - perfect if you've lost your mates and want to tell them where you are, to tell someone you fancy them, or just to tell 65,000 people your best joke!
