Virgin Mobile wins Best Customer Service and Best Prepay Package at Consumer Telecoms Awards
Virgin Mobile, the UK's fifth network, scooped two prestigious awards at last night's inaugural Mobile Choice Consumer Awards ceremony. Hosted by TV funnyman Jonathan Ross, the awards put Virgin Mobile at the top of the class, winning Best Customer Service and Best Prepay Package. The Siemens SL45, one of Virgin Mobile's most popular phones also won best handset, and was runner up in the most desirable phone category.
Virgin Mobile was shortlisted for five categories:
The consumer awards, voted for by readers of Mobile Choice Magazine and dubbed the 'Oscars' of the telecoms world, recognise both excellence and innovation in the mobile phone industry.
Winning Best Network last year and two awards this year, Virgin Mobile is certainly making a big impact on the other four networks. But this comes as no surprise to the company that pipped the likes of Vodafone and BT Cellnet in being the fastest network to reach 1 million customers in June of this year.
Said Tom Alexander, chief executive officer, Virgin Mobile: "This is a tremendous achievement and proves that Virgin Mobile, though still young, is giving the old networks a run for their money. Our two awards demonstrate we have more than an appealing brand - we have enticing products that offer great value for money and unrivalled customer service."
