Virgin Mobile announces sponsorship of charity comedy night
- Virgin Mobile is the headline sponsor of charity comedy night
- One in Four Comedy Night in aid of The National Council for One Parent Families

As the nation mourns England’s defeat at the hands of the Brazilians, Virgin Mobile is looking to put a smile on the faces of British one-parent families, by supporting the One in Four comedy night in aid of The National Council for One Parent Families.
Until 9.24am this morning, Sunday 30th June could have been the date on which football was coming home to England. However, it can now be remembered for a happier reason – it is also the date on which dozens of celebrity comedians will give their time and energy to charity, to raise both smiles and cash for the one in four British families which are headed by a single parent – of which one in two lives in poverty.
The stellar line up at the One in Four Comedy Night includes Ben Elton, Richard Wilson, Paul Whitehouse, Arabella Weir and Charlie Higson of The Fast Show, Armstrong & Miller, Meera Syal, and Stephen Fry. The event takes place at 7.30pm at the Palace Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, and will be followed by a celebrity aftershow party at Century Club for the artists and those who purchase the exclusive VIP tickets.
Virgin Mobile became involved in the event after Sir Richard Branson was approached personally by The Magic Million Appeal Patron, Sarah Brown. Virgin Mobile’s corporate affairs director, Steven Day, said “When Richard told us that the Magic Million Appeal was looking for a sponsor we were delighted to offer our support. A large number of talented individuals are making a great effort to pull this event together to raise a great deal of money for the one parent families who so urgently need it. We at Virgin like a good laugh at the best of times, particularly when it’s raising money for a good cause, and it just so happens to now be taking place on a night when England needs cheering up the most!”
About the Comedy Night
One in Four will be held on June 30 at the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London.
Tickets are now on sale - £50, £37.50, £32.50, £25 and £15
