Virgin Mobile does the double at Consumer Awards for second year running

30/09/2002

- Virgin Mobile wins at Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2002
- The only network to win two awards:

  • Best pre-pay package

  • Best customer service

Virgin Mobile scooped two prestigious awards at last night’s Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2002. Hosted by TV impressionist Alistair McGowan at London’s Billingsgate Market, Virgin Mobile repeated its achievements of last year by winning the awards for Best Pre-Pay Package, and for Best Customer Service.

Virgin Mobile was the only network to win two awards at this year’s ‘mobile oscars’ - a great success for a company not yet three years old.

Virgin Mobile was shortlisted in five categories in total – more than any other mobile company - which were:

  • Best Pre-pay Package (winner)

  • Best Customer Service (winner)

  • Best Network

  • Cracking Mobile Crime Campaign

  • Best High Street Retailer (V.SHOP)

The Sony Ericsson T68i, which is in the Virgin Mobile range, scooped the gongs for Best Phone and Most Desirable Phone.

The consumer awards, voted for by readers of Mobile Choice Magazine, recognise both excellence and innovation in the mobile phone industry.

The accolades came just days after another industry win for Virgin Mobile. At the seventh annual European Call Centre of the Year Awards, Virgin Mobile was honoured for its focus on customer care with the Best Call Centre Induction Training Award.

Virgin Mobile’s Sir Richard Branson said: “Virgin Mobile is an exceptional company, which just keeps getting better. Our staff are especially thrilled at being recognised by Britain’s phone-buying public for offering the best customer service in the industry, not once, but two years running. I’d like to thank them for all their dedication in making Virgin Mobile so special, and the public for their ever-increasing support.”
