Ten students move into houses rent free for a year

22/10/2002

The winners have picked up the keys to their dream pad, just as students across the country gear themselves up for the second year of the hugely successful promotion. The Big Red House competition kicks off this week at seventy universities, giving all students until January 2003 to enter.

The proud new tenants won after their fellow students voted for them during an intensive canvassing campaign on campus, which saw hopeful students trying everything from poster campaigns to going door-to-door. This year’s competition will again give students across the country the chance to win one of ten rent-free houses for a year, by asking them to submit a video of a crazy stunt and to carry out a vote-winning campaign in their local area.

James Kydd, Brand Director at Virgin Mobile, said: “Last year’s Big Red House competition was incredibly popular at universities, giving students a chance to avoid the usual financial nightmare of arranging their rent, and to find out how Virgin Mobile’s proposition is so ideal for students. This year, we’ve increased our efforts to make the competition even bigger, and look forward to seeing the mayhem that students cause as they battle it out to win the keys to their own Big Red House next year.”
