During Q1 2003 Virgin Mobile confirmed its position as the UK’s fastest-growing mobile network by attracting more customers than any other operator in the UK telecoms market. Recording its most successful quarter yet, the virtual network has sustained its impressive record of significant ongoing growth, at a time when the other mobile companies have experienced a dramatic decline.
Over the past year, while other operators have been forced to take drastic measures as a means of reducing expenditure, such as writing down the value of 3G licenses, Virgin Mobile has gone from strength to strength. Amongst other achievements, the company has entered long-term profitability, with revenues in Q1 2003 exceeding £1 million a day, and the company is forecasting revenues of £450 million during 2003. With customer numbers now in excess of 2.6 million, Virgin Mobile expects to acquire its three-millionth customer during 2003, and has recently opened its second customer centre in Middlesbrough.
Virgin Mobile’s Sir Richard Branson, said: “Virgin Mobile is continuing to go from strength to strength, surpassing all of our rivals by some margin, in a very competitive marketplace. We pride our success on giving the British consumer what they want; cheap calls, no line rental, good customer service and great value. We look forward to an even more successful Quarter 2!”
