Virgin Mobile adds more than 250,000 customers in first quarter 2004

Virgin Mobile today announced that it added more than a quarter of a million net new customers in calendar Q1 2004. During the first three months of this year, Virgin Mobile acquired 257,257 net new customers, making it Virgin Mobile’s best ever first quarterly sales period.

The company’s best Q1 performance lifted Virgin Mobile’s customer numbers to 3,902,052. This represents a year on year increase of 48%, and a 7% increase since Q4 2003.

On 29th April 2004 Virgin Mobile celebrated gaining its four millionth customer, securing its position as the UK’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

Virgin Mobile’s chief executive Tom Alexander said: “Virgin Mobile is an exceptional company which continues to go from strength to strength. We have consistently taken market share from our competitors. Acquiring our four millionth customer was a great milestone, and proof that Virgin Mobile’s proposition and innovative marketing are a hit with UK consumers.”
