Virgin Mobile: Winner of the West of England Business of the Year Award 2004

30/06/2004

Virgin Mobile was last night crowned winner of the prestigious West of England Business of the Year Award 2004, yet another acknowledgment of the remarkable success that the business has achieved to date.

The award, sponsored by Price Waterhouse Coopers and supported by the Western Daily Press and ITV West, was presented to Virgin Mobile by Transport Secretary Alistair Darling in Bath last night.

Virgin Mobile, short-listed along with five other finalists*, was launched just 5 years ago and has now blossomed into the UK’s largest and, arguably, the most successful mobile virtual network operator. It has more than 1,400 staff, across 4 sites, servicing more than 4.1 million customers.

Tom Alexander, chief executive of Virgin Mobile, said: “We have enjoyed incredible growth in the business since launch and it is fantastic to see the hard work, innovation and dedication from everyone at Virgin Mobile rewarded by such a coveted award. Virgin Mobile is an exceptional company, which just keeps going from strength to strength, thanks to our great team - the majority of which are based in the West Country. I’d like to thank them for all their dedication in making Virgin Mobile so successful, and the public for their ever-increasing support.”
