Virgin Mobile is proud to be the headline sponsor of the V Festival for the fifth consecutive year, and this year has teamed up with Motorola to make this the best year yet for V Festival goers.
Virgin Mobile Red Light Club
Last year the Virgin Mobile Red Light Club attracted thousands of visitors who enjoyed a feast of live music and entertainment and danced the day and night away. Clubbers will be able to recharge their mobile phones while dancing or chilling out in the area, and Virgin Mobile customers will be eligible for free beers.
This year the Club boasts its finest line-up to date, with the headline-grabbing Scissor Sisters at the top of the bill. The Scissor Sisters will be performing a ‘decks, mics and attitude’ set, and are guaranteed to bring more than a touch of glamour and festival style to V. With something a little bit more special than your usual DJ performance, expect to see glamorous costumes and hear live vocals from both Jake and Anna Matronic; the cutting edge has never sounded more decadent.
Another must-see headline act performing in the Red Light Club at Hylands Parks is Groove Armada, who will be playing their famous fusion of hip hop blues, joyous filthy funk, and rock n roll grooves. Other acts on the bill include A Man Called Adam, The Bees playing a DJ set, and The Cuban Brothers, hot-foot from Havana and arguably the best cabaret act in the world.
Virgin Mobile Louder Road to V
V Festival 2004 will also see the winner of the ‘Virgin Mobile Louder Road to V’ performing in front of a crowd of thousands on the NME stage. Performances from some of the UK’s hottest new bands will be shown on T4 Holiday Mornings, for 2 weeks commencing 26th July. Each band will get their own slot, and viewers will be asked to text, or post on the T4 website, reviews of each different band. Each review will then be considered by a panel of music industry judges and the band that proves most popular will be announced within a V Festival preview show on Channel 4 and E4 on Friday 20th August. The winning band will be selected for a once in a lifetime opportunity to open the V Festival on the NME stage at Hylands Park, Chelmsford on Saturday 21st August, and Weston Park, Staffordshire, on Sunday 22nd August.
Free beer and kebabs!
In an effort to combat festival fatigue, Virgin Mobile is ensuring that their customers do not go hungry or thirsty over the weekend by offering them each a free beer and kebab when they flash their Virgin Mobile. Free beer is available to Virgin Mobile customers in the Red Light Club, and the Virgin Mobile Kebab Van will be making its first festival appearance to revive hungry music lovers with a selection of delicious doner kebabs!
Virgin Mobile Angels
As well as the great music, the Virgin Mobile Angels will be there to help V Festival goers have the best possible weekend. From the moment they arrive on site, the Angels will be on hand with wheelbarrows to help move their camping equipment from the car park, help them pitch their tents and even help them try to find it again later on! In the mornings they will even be doing breakfast runs for bacon sandwiches for hungry campers.
Text the Fest
The Virgin Mobile Angels will be using Motorola V220 handsets to promote the Text the Fest and Foto the Fest, in which Festival-goers’ texts and picture messages are displayed on the giant Motorola jumbotron screens either side of the main stage. The text messages chosen are the wittiest observations, best gags, and sauciest declarations of love and lust, and last year more than 30,000 messages were sent in a bid to make it onto the screens.
