01.10.04: Virgin Mobile scooped two prestigious awards at last night’s Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2004. Hosted by TV comedian Jimmy Carr at London’s Old Billingsgate Market, Virgin Mobile triumphed over its competitors by winning the Best Customer Service Award for the fourth year running, and the Best Ad Campaign for its Idle Thumbs campaign.
The customer service award, which was voted for by the public, was won on account of Virgin Mobile making “a big deal of its customer service”. In the Mobile Choice survey 64% of users rated Virgin Mobile customer services as “Very Good”.
The Idle Thumbs series of films, featuring stars such as Christina Aguilera and Busta Rhymes, were praised as being “cheeky, irreverent and exceedingly memorable”.
Tom Alexander, chief executive of Virgin Mobile, said: “Virgin Mobile is a people business, and offering great customer service is at its heart. This prestigious accolade is proof that we are getting it right, not just this year, but four years running. I’d like to thank all of the staff of Virgin Mobile for their dedication in making Virgin Mobile so successful, and the readers of Mobile Choice Magazine for their support.”
