to Work For’ 2005 list
Virgin Mobile, the UK's largest mobile virtual network operator, was last night honoured at the annual `Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For’ 2005 awards, and has been voted the 72nd best company to work for in Britain and third in the Southwest. Virgin Mobile is the only mobile phone company to make it into the top 100 of the list. The event took place at the Battersea Park Events Arena and was hosted by Mary Nightingale.
Tom Alexander, CEO of Virgin Mobile, said: “This is an outstanding achievement for Virgin Mobile. We are delighted to gain third best company to work for in the Southwest in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Companies list for the first time. What’s more, previously we have been placed in the Top 50 Best Workplaces list, in the Financial Times, for two years running, this is further evidence that Virgin Mobile is a remarkable and exceptional company. I would like to thank our special team of people, the majority of whom are based in the West Country, for their dedication in making Virgin Mobile the vibrant, exciting place it is and for creating one of the best companies in the UK.”
The 100 Best Companies to Work For list recognises organisations applauded by their employees for providing a supportive environment in which they feel rewarded, appreciated and encouraged to develop. Since 2001, personnel from Best Companies Limited, specialist consultants in workplace culture and the researchers and compilers for The Sunday Times Best Companies List, have surveyed the opinion of more than 130,000 employees from thousands of UK businesses to find out which ones truly are the best.
