19.08.05: Virgin Mobile is proud to announce the winner of Virgin Mobiles Road to V The Young Knives. The Road to V was launched to find the best new unsigned band in Britain, and give them a chance to win a place opening for Channel 4 Stage at V Festival. The Young Knives impressed the judges with a set shown on Channel 4 this week and will be opening the Virgin Mobile V Festival at noon on the 20th August at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire on 21st August.
The V Festival is celebrating its 10th birthday this year and has confirmed a stellar star music line-up including Oasis, Scissor Sisters, The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers, among many others.
The Young Knives hail from Oxford and are the new contenders on the indie-punk scene. Clad in tweed suits, boasting a band-member christened The House Of Lords and writing the finest punk-art-pop-eccentro anthems youve yet to register amidst your psyche, theyre 2005s latest, hankering obsession-to-be.
The Young Knives were informed of their win on Thursday night, giving them less than 48 hours to practise, pack up and get ready for the performance of their lives at the V Festival.
