London – 7 November 2005: Virgin Mobile Telecoms Ltd (“Virgin Mobile”) has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Mark Burrows as Finance Director.
Mark, 35, will take responsibility for day-to-day financial operations and will report to Chief Financial Officer Alan Gow, who will spend an increasing proportion of his time on strategy and investor relations.
Mark joins Virgin Mobile from BSkyB, where as Head of Sky Sports Finance he advised on the financial aspects of sports rights acquisitions and pay per view events. He also represented Sky as a director of both the Manchester United TV and Chelsea Digital Media (Chelsea TV) joint ventures. Prior to this Mark was Head of Technology Finance and Group Capital Expenditure at the company.
Mark previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Assistant Manager in the Corporate Recovery and Corporate Finance unit, where he helped to restructure the finance department of a failing independent television and radio production company. He also spent six months on secondment to the then Price Waterhouse training division, teaching an induction course to graduate recruits. Mark began his career with three years on the Barclays Bank trainee manager scheme before moving to PricewaterhouseCoopers in an audit role.
He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996 and has a first class degree in Economics and Accountancy from Cardiff University.
