Finalists chosen for the Road to V

  • Virgin Mobile’s Road to V announces final 14 bands competing to open V Festival

25.04.06: Virgin Mobile is proud to announce the fourteen bands that have been chosen to take part in the Road to V. The Road to V received a record numbers of entries this year, with the final fourteen beating over 4000 other hopefuls to be in with a chance to open Virgin Mobile’s V Festival.

The final fourteen bands are as follows: Adult Cinema, Bombay Bicycle Club, Hey Gravity, Keith, Mr Derry, No AV on the TV, Sunny Day Sets Fire, The Debretts, The Holloways, The Immediate, The Loungs, The Pinch, Trap 6 and Yes Boss.

The bands are now set to perform in a series of live gigs at the Carling Academy Islington (2/3/4th May) and Carling Academy Liverpool (8/9/10th May) in front of an expert judging panel and filmed for Channel 4. The experts, which consists of key figures from the music industry including The Charlatans front man Tim Burgess and Virgin Radio DJ Steve Harris, will be critiquing the acts and making their recommendations on which two bands are worthy to open Virgin Mobile’s V Festival.

Channel 4 will be showing the performances in a series of programmes from mid-June. Full details and tracks from all the finalists are available on www.roadtov.com and the full performances can be watched on www.channel4.com/music. Music fans will also be able to post their opinions online and vote for their favourite acts. All reviews and comments will be considered when choosing the overall two winners.
