Virgin Mobile offers a Summer of Free Texts

28.04.06 Starting today, all of Virgin Mobile’s 4.34 million customers can enjoy a Summer of Free Texts. Up to 20 billion texts are being given away as Virgin Mobile customers can text each other for free.

This is the largest text promotion ever seen in Britain and rewards all existing and new customers joining Virgin Mobile this summer with free texts. Customers can send up to 1,000 free texts a month to other Virgin Mobiles until the end of September.

Graeme Hutchinson, Virgin Mobile’s sales and marketing director, said: "They say that the best things in life are free, and the Summer of Free Texts is no exception! This offer is typical of Virgin: simple, great value, ground-breaking and rewards every customer. We think our customers are going to be the most social mobile phone users in Britain this summer!"

Virgin Mobile customers who are on contract or using Pay As You Go bundles can also take advantage of the offer, as their text allowances will decrement for texts to other networks during the promotion, as on-net texts are free.

The promotion is supported by a print campaign, and across a number of high profile outdoor billboard sites. Virgin Mobile will also roll out the promotion over the summer months, with the Virgin Mobile Roadshow vehicle giving away thousands of frisbees, and a Summer of Free Texts ice cream van distributing free ice creams in parks and festivals.

Virgin Mobile customers can send up to 1,000 free standard texts a month to other Virgin Mobile customers. Texts must be sent within or from the UK. Customer’s balances must be in credit. Group text, short codes and picture messages are excluded. The Summer of Free Texts promotion runs from today until September 30th 2006.
