  • Virgin Mobile launches a nationwide ‘Get Spotted’ campaign to win a role in the next Virgin Mobile TV ad
  • The winner will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kate Moss and Missy Elliott
  • The 20 finalists will be invited to a live audition in London
  • A panel of judges including a celebrity guest will choose the winner

09.05.06: Virgin Mobile today launches its ‘Get Spotted’ competition to offer someone a role in its next television ad. The lucky winner will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kate Moss to star in the TV advert, which will be screened later in 2006.

Virgin Mobile has become famous for its use of high-profile celebrities in tongue-in-cheek and amusing advertising campaigns. The nationwide ‘Get Spotted’ competition offers anyone the opportunity to enter, simply by entering the competition in Virgin Mobile Stores between today and the closing date of June 5th.

Virgin Mobile’s TV star will be chosen from a shortlist of 20 finalists, and will be chosen for their potential star quality. The finalists will be invited to a Grand Final audition in London, which will be judged by a panel including a celebrity guest.

The winner will be treated like all stars should, travelling in style (the venue is to be confirmed, but a passport may be required – previous ads have been shot in New York and LA) and staying in luxury accommodation. The winner will have a visible role in the ad, and could potentially star alongside an A-list celebrity such as previous stars Kate Moss, Missy Elliott, Christina Aguilera, LL Cool J or Wyclef Jean. Filming for the advert will commence in June/July 2006.

James Kydd, Virgin Mobile’s brand director, said: “We are hugely proud of our advertising campaigns, and have become known for using high profile stars in an offbeat and amusing way. We are offering one lucky person the experience of a lifetime, which could also potentially set him or herself on the road to TV stardom, courtesy of Virgin Mobile. I would urge anyone who would like a taste of stardom to get down to a Virgin Mobile store today!”

Many of Hollywood’s finest, including Courtney Cox, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt started their career in adverts. Stars of the future are now being given the chance to shine by filling in an entry form and dropping it off in Virgin Mobile Stores in Virgin Megastores nationwide. Hopefuls then send a snap of themselves via MMS to 07734 999 119 (including the boxed code on each entry form).
