17.11.06: Virgin Mobile’s customer centre in Trowbridge is today taking on a 007 theme and becoming one of the main centres in the region taking calls for the BBC Children in Need Appeal. It will attempt to repeat its highly successful track record over the past five years.
Virgin Mobile staff, including Managing Director Alan Gow, have come out in force to support the appeal. More than 150 members of staff, along with their family and friends, are manning the phones from 7pm to 2am on Children in Need night. Local members of the Bath Rugby team are also there to help take calls. Answering the phone is thirsty work and Virgin Drinks is supplying free refreshments and McDonalds is also providing meals to boost energy levels.
This is Virgin Mobile’s fifth consecutive year working with Children in Need, which is dedicated to improving the lives of young people in Britain. In 2005, Virgin Mobile took over £200,000 worth of donations and pledges.
Lisa Cogdell-Brown, community, charity and well-being liaison officer at Virgin Mobile, said: “Virgin Mobile is a dedicated supporter of Children in Need and staff jumped at the chance to take calls again. This year we have vowed to try to raise even more money on the night, and have even more fun!"
