12.05.07: Virgin Media today announced its plans to hit Britain 's high streets with the very first Virgin Media store which will be opened by media star Abi Titmuss.
Temporarily out of the limelight, Abi will make her long awaited return to the public domain at the store, which will showcase all of Virgin Mobile's products and services as well as the broadband, landline and TV packages available on Virgin Media.
Virgin Media will open its first ever standalone store at the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill, West Midlands at 10am on Saturday 12th May. The company is planning a significant wave of new store openings throughout 2007. Virgin Mobile is recruiting 7 staff to give expert customer service and advice to Merry Hill shoppers. Hundreds of new jobs will be created as the store expansion continues throughout the UK.
The retail strategy focuses on bringing technology to life and making it meaningful and fun. Emphasis will be put on enabling customers to `try before you buy' and taking all of the hassle out of buying and setting up a new phone or cable package . For the first time consumers can get everything they need from one company - the UK 's only quad play of TV, broadband, phone and mobile plus the most advanced TV on demand service available.
Paul Williams at Virgin Media, said: "We are delighted to offer people the chance to experience Virgin Media and Virgin Mobile products in a new and exciting environment. We've always found that combining mobile phones with music and entertainment is a perfect way to engage Virgin customers and our brand new store will certainly showcase the latest and greatest phones and technology that Virgin has to offer. Having Abi Titmuss there is an added bonus!"
