03.08.07: Keeping in touch while on holiday in Europe is getting cheaper, as Virgin Mobile today announces that it's cutting international roaming charges for all its customers.
From 30th August, all Virgin Mobile pay monthly and pay-as-you-go customers will benefit from cheaper rates when making or receiving calls in all 27 EU countries. Making a call from an EU country will cost 38p per minute, while receiving a call will soon cost just 19p per minute.
Virgin Mobile customers will not need to do anything to benefit from these great new rates – we will make the changes for them, leaving them free to finish their packing and shop for those last-minute holiday essentials.
And to let customers know exactly how much they'll pay for roaming, Virgin Mobile will send them a free ‘welcome text' on arrival in their EU destination, telling them exactly what the call and SMS rates are to and from that country.
Customers planning a trip will also be able to find out the call & text costs before arrival by using Virgin Mobile's free ‘text-to-get' text service. By just sending a free text, customers will receive back a message telling exactly what the costs will be to use their phone in that country.
John Conlon, Marketing Controller, Digital Services, Virgin Mobile, said: "Virgin Mobile is delighted to be cutting the cost of roaming for all our customers. As part of our philosophy of offering great value in a simple to understand manner, our reduced rates and simple tariff structure will ensure that they can benefit from cheaper roaming with the minimum of hassle."
