‘Jizz in my pants’ wins voscar award for best viral campaign
It was announced today that the spoof rap song ‘Jizz in my Pants’, created by members and writers of the American sketch show Saturday Night Live, was the overall winner at the first ever Voscars (Virgin Mobile Oscars).
The winning video, featuring Justin Timberlake, Molly Simms and Jamie Lynn Sigler, can be seen at http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4pXfHLUlZf4.
Created by Virgin Mobile, the Voscars ceremony was held at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair. It brought together thirty of the UK’s top bloggers, social media commentators and journalists to vote for their top 30 viral marketing campaigns.
The top thirty were, in order:
The Voscars also saw the premiere of the ‘30 Peas’ viral campaign, now available to view online at http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_E21KVL9Ew0. The video was filmed using stop-motion animation and features thirty peas doing everything from dancing to climbing mountains. The theme, ‘it’s amazing what 30 peas can do’, is based on Virgin Mobile’s new data tariff that provides customers with unlimited web access for a fixed cost of only 30p per day. More information is available at www.virginmobilepeople.com/30p/.
Simon Dornan, head of PR at Virgin Mobile, comments: “Online marketing campaigns aren’t just an afterthought any more; they have become as important as any TV advert or price promotion. We created the Voscars panel to showcase their success and allow the online community to vote for the best.
“Our congratulations go to everyone involved in the winning video and to all those in the top 30. They were all incredibly creative examples of online marketing and I know it wasn’t easy for the group to pick a winner.”
